Google Voice - My Favourite SMS App

Google Voice -- my favorite sms app, I use it for my messaging needs. With Google Voice you can replace your phone and messaging apps on your phone. You are able to text using your Google Voice number, or if you’re a Sprint customer you can use your Sprint number as your Google Voice number. It’s a great app, and it’s made by Google, so it’s using the latest design guidelines put forth from Google.

How does google voice work on android?
Review: Google Voice Application for Android

More info View:Google Voice

With Google Voice, but it can't
Google voicemail takes over your phone!! No way to disable it from routing all incoming calls to the google voicemail which is impossible to use. If they could improve the program to where incoming calls to the native cell phone # go to the native voicemail I would use it. I uninstalled it, wasn't worth having the second phone #.

HTC M7 to be announced on February 19

Everyone's eyeing HTC's second full-HD device that is expected to come out soon. How soon? Well, according to Twitter user @flapic-"[Exclusive] HTC M7 to be launched during a dedicated event on February 19th, probably in London, not at #MWC13", the HTC M7 could be launched at an event in London on February 19.

Until now, we were hoping to see the device at the Mobile World Congress scheduled to take place between February 25-28. But if HTC plans to launch it a week earlier at a separate event, it is likely to garner more attention.

The HTC M7 has been rumoured for quite a while now, with recent ones indicating the possible look and feel of the device. It's also been spotted running on the company's latest and yet-to-be-made official Sense 5.0 UI.

5 My Favourite Best Free Android Games

When I viewed Best Android Games from digitaltrends.com, I found it lists some android games, which are my favourite android games.

The Next Five Best Android Games are my favourite. They are free games, and worth playing.

1.Killer Escape (Free)

Here’s a change of pace from your average Android game. Killer Escape is an old school point-and-click adventure spiced up by the fact that you are trying to escape the clutches of a crazed serial killer. It has a nice spooky atmosphere and offers a typical blend of exploration and a collection of diverse puzzles. It’s not a long game and it never gets too challenging, but it is fun while it lasts and it’s also completely free. Can you escape before you get hacked into little pieces? There’s only one way to find out.

2.Steampunk Racing 3D (Free)

If you’ve been waiting for steampunk styling to crash into battle racing then get ready to be very happy indeed. This is all about action-packed races to the death. You can customize 10 different vehicles with 30 improvements and weapons to give yourself the edge in the single player campaign or the multiplayer arena. The grimy industrial art style is spot on for steampunk fans and the gameplay is fast and frenetic. It’s free to download, but you’ll find the usual in-app purchase options to help you gain an edge over the competition.

3.Temple Run (Free)

Temple Run has finally come to Android, but it’s been on iOS since 2011. The gist of the game is pretty simple. You have clearly trespassed on ancient ruins where you don’t belong and are now fleeing from a bunch of evil monkey creatures. To survive, you must swipe up, down, left, or right, and tilt your device to dodge obstacles and collect coins. The key to this game is its simplicity and tight controls. When you swipe down to slide, you instinctively know just how far you’ll go. The precision controls have made it a hit and definitely worth checking out.

4.Wind-up Knight (Free)

We’re all familiar with the old stand-by fairy tale storyline of the knight in shining armor saving the distressed princess. Wind-Up Knight takes that story and makes you want to tell the princess exactly what you had to go through to save her. With 50 levels that promise to shake your confidence and crush your self-esteem, Wind-Up Knight is a platformer that makes you exhale a deep sigh of relief at the end of every world. Even armor upgrades and weapon enhancements won’t provide a promise of safety. Just pick up your sword, throw on your helmet, and hope for the best.

5.Angry Birds Space (Free)

Just when you thought Angry Birds had left the nest, Rovio brings it back. Angry Birds Space is the first true sequel to Birds and comes packed with classic bird-slinging action, but entirely new types of puzzles. The space setting allows the game to toy with gravity and planets. Now, birds fly in whatever direction the gravity goes, adding a whole new dynamic. Since each planet has its own gravity field (like a halo around the planet), you can make birds spin around planets and fly in all sorts of directions.

CES 2013-HUAWEI Ascend Mate

Chinese manufacturer Huawei announced at the 2013 International CES the Ascend D2 smartphone and the 6.1 inch-Ascend Mate smartphone-tablet hybrid.

The news comes just a few days after leaked images of the devices popped up online.

First up is the mammoth Ascend Mate — which will go up against the Samsung Galaxy Note II — features a quad-core 1.5GHz processor and a 4050mAH battery. The display has a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. Under the hood, the Ascend Mate runs Android 4.1.

It's also gargantuan at 6.1-inches.

Meanwhile, the Ascend D2 is Huawei's chance at taking on the superphone market. The Ascend D2 has a 5-inch full HD display with a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels. That gives it the same pixel density as the HTC's Droid DNA on Verizon.

Like it's bigger sibling, the Ascend D2 runs on Android 4.1 and has a quad-core 1.5GHz processor. In addition to a 13-megapixel backside illuminated camera and a 3000mAh battery, the Ascend D2 was built to be water resistent. Huawei demonstrated its ability to work under wet conditions by throwing water on the device during the press conference.

We don't have any word on price or country availability of these devices but it looks like Huawei will start shipping soon. With any luck, 2013 will be Huawei's year to break out into the mainstream.

Is a 6.1-inch smartphone too big or is it just the right size? Let us know in the comments.

Five of Best 1080P Smartphones in 2013

“Which is the best smartphone for recording 1080p full hd video?
I want to get a new phone to be able to have a “somewhat okay” camcorder on me. I don’t care much about other features, but I guess battery life and memory also is important when recording video”, someone asked.

Yes, cameras on your smartphones have come a long way, especially with the commencement of the new smartphone age. Smartphones today include cameras which include most of the features which you would usually find on pocket cameras, and to a huge extent they have successfully eliminated the need for one. These are the smartphones which allow you to record videos at 1080p full HD, some of them are quite good at it.

There are Five upcoming 1080p smartphones in 2013:oppo find 5, htc butterfly, sony xperia c660x yuga, galaxy s4, LG Optimuz G2.
  • OPPO Find 5 Release date rumors

Much after rumors of the Oppo Find 5 hit the market a few months ago, the expected release date and specifications of the phone have finally been revealed. The phone is expected to be introduced into the market in the first quarter of 2013.
  • HTC Butterfly Release date rumors

Back in October HTC announced the J Butterfly 5-inch smartphone in Japan and said at the time the Full HD screen technology would be used elsewhere in different markets. The corporate then revealed the HTC DROID DNA for purchasers of the Verizon Wi-fi network in the US, and more recently it seemed the machine was heading for different regions however underneath another different name. Now though it appears there shall be some HTC Butterfly European release disappointment.

Earlier this month there were reports that HTC was going to release the handset in different markets by merely calling it the Butterfly, and some days later on-line mobile phone retailerExpansys begun taking pre-orders for the machine however with none pricing or availability information.

  • Sony Xperia C66oX Yuga Release date rumors

There is yet no word from Sony about the rumored handset. It is hoped that the company will showcase the gadget at any of the upcoming tech trade shows – the CES 2013 or Mobile World Congress 2013. Many rumor mills think that the handset will be coming to the fore at the CES expo, rather than the MWC. So let us wait for the start of the world’s largest tech trade show in Las Vegas next month to have a glance at what is going to be a stunning Android phone.

  • Galaxy S4 Release date rumors

It seems more than likely that Samsung will eschew MWC 2013 once more for the release of its top handset, instead focusing on the launch in May 2013, which we’d really like to see. A recent teaser by Samsung promised something at CES in January, but this is really rather unlikely.

  • LG Optimus G2 Release date rumors

The LG Optimus G2 will enter the market during the first half of 2013.

How To Follow CES 2013

It's time once again for the International CES. Taking place in Las Vegas from Jan. 7 - 11, thousands of companies — big and small — will be showing off their latest products as well as prototypes of the future.

CES is a big event. In person, trying to navigate the Las Vegas Convention Center — not to mention the many off-site parties and events — is an exercise unto itself. We've compiled a list of a quick and easy ways to follow CES 2013 online, from the comfort of your home or office.

The official hashtag for CES 2013 is #2013CES. Although the CEA is trying to get all news organizations and visitors to use that tag, plenty of people will also use the standard #CES on Twitter and other social media sties.

You can also follow the official CES social media accounts:

Sony Xperia ZL hands-on

You can't fault Sony for trying. After announcing its renewed focus on mobile back in 2012, the company's consistently issued thoughtful hardware for the global marketplace. But its collective efforts have yet to spark the "emotional" storm company CEO Kaz Hirai seems to be striving for. Well, if the smiles on our faces are any indication, Sony may have a bonafide hit on its hands with the Xperia ZL. Introduced officially at its CES 2013 event, the 5-inch Android Jelly Bean handset bears nigh identical specs to its larger, more "premium" big brother: the Xperia Z. With a scratch-resistant 1080p TFT Reality Display powered by Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2, 1.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro and 13-megapixel rear camera with Exmor RS sensor, the ZL sits comfortably in the high-end range.

HTC M7 Rumors

In the past few weeks, the HTC M7 has surfaced several times, showing itself to likely be a high-quality Android smartphone and one that should compete on the main stage in 2013. Details have leaked out numerous times already and now we have even more possibilities thanks to HTCSource who has divulged a few more possible details in regards to the HTC M7.

Firstly, the HTC M7 design apparently is going to be taking some hints from the design of the Droid DNA, HTC’s most current Verizon smartphone, and that apparently means an all-black design with a beveled edge. Evidently, the HTC M7 could also come with the same design materials as the Droid DNA instead of an aluminum design that has been rumored in the past.

It appears that the device may not feature on-screen buttons as was previously rumored and it looks like no visible microSD card slot was visible meaning the device will likely be stuck on 32GB of storage.

The HTC M7 is also rumored to have a 4.7-inch 1080 x 1920 display with 468 pixels-per-inch, which is a higher PPI than even the Droid DNA, and a quad-core processor, possibly 1.7GHz and thought to be made by Qualcomm.

It’s also apparently being tested with Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, which is not Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, the latest from Google. However, that could apparently change by the time the phone hits shelves.

The HTC M7 is also rumored to be sporting a new version of HTC Sense, likely Sense 5, that is described as both “simple and clean.”

HTC’s CEO:"The Worst for HTC has probably passed"

HTC isn’t exactly in the best shape. Their stock price is off by 80% compared to its peak in 2010, the launch of the Sensation is 2011 was a train wreck, and while the One X was a great phone when it was announced in early 2012, Samsung’s Galaxy S3 stole all that device’s thunder when it came out during the summer months. So what’s the company going to do to turn things around? The first step is to admit that you’ve hit your bottom. HTC’s CEO, Peter Chou, spoke to The Wall Street Journal today about the performance of the company, and he said:

“The worst for HTC has probably passed. 2013 will not be too bad. Our competitors were too strong and very resourceful, pouring in lots of money into marketing. We haven’t done enough on the marketing front. Although we don’t have as much money to counter [Samsung and Apple], the most important thing is to have unique products that appeal to consumers.”

Dale Gai, an analyst at Barclays, says HTC is in a tricky place mainly because they don’t make any components. That, more so than the marketing problem, is what we feel puts HTC in a terrible position. Samsung makes their own screens, processors, memory chips, and many other parts required to make a mobile phone. The same can be said about LG. Now yes, Apple doesn’t “make” their own components, but they do buy equipment for their component suppliers.

When you really stop and think about it, what exactly does HTC do? They take Google’s software, Qualcomm’s chips, Sharp’s screens, and then slap everything together. As the rest of the industry tries to become vertically integrated, HTC is stuck acting like a company from the the turn of the century. Other than firing lots of people and going stock Android, we don’t know what advice to give this company.
Less than three years ago, HTC was the top Android maker in the US.Recent figures from comScore suggest it has fallen to fifth place among smartphone vendors with just 5.9 percent market share.

HTC’s 5-inch J Butterfly/Droid DNA handset could give the company some forward momentum. Sales rankings in Japan in December placed the device ahead of Apple’s own iPhone 5. The news gave the company’s stock a temporary lift, though those gains have trailed off some over the past few days.

We’ll find out soon enough just how bad the rest of 2012 was when the company reports its preliminary earnings results next week. Hopefully Chou is right that HTC’s worst days are behind it.

Nexus 4- The Best of Google

Another day, another Nexus phone to add to Google's list of stock handsets not tainted by gratuitous add-ons, carrier bloatware, and OEM skins. For diehard Android users, a Nexus phone is usually the way to go when picking a handset: Nexus-branded devices are the first to get updated with every new version of Android, at least until the hardware inside the device becomes obsolete. The Nexus 4, though, is a special case. It has a near-twin in the non-Nexus LG Optimus G. This brother-from-another-mother was released not too long ago and boasts the same innards as the Nexus 4 as well as most of the same functionality. For power-hungry Android users, choosing between the two is a question of whether they should adopt the Nexus 4 for its Googlefication or stick with its counterpart for LG's value-added features.

Fear not, readers, because this review will arm you with the insight you need to make that decision. Though we'll make many comparisons between the two handsets (there are actually three handsets—Sprint has its own version of the LG Optimus G, though we haven't yet been able to lay hands on it), this is essentially a breakdown of the Nexus 4's future as a contender in the upcoming 2013 smartphone wars. We won't be touching too much on Android 4.2, so check out our full review for more information about the operating system that runs on the Nexus 4.

Like the Optimus G, the Nexus 4 sports a 1280×768 IPS Touch Hybrid display that maxes out at 320 ppi—six pixels per inch fewer than the iPhone 5 but well into what would be considered "retina" territory. Its laminated glass emits bright, pure colors, and remains easy to read in just about any sort of lighting. We talked about LG's display technology quite a bit in the Optimus G review, but to reiterate, it's one of the better smartphone displays we've laid our eyes on.
